Beauty Review: LY-NA Pearl Cream (Updated with another Link)

NOTE: Try this product at your own risk. If it works for me, it does not mean it will work for you too. Everyone has different types of skin. My skin consists of dry - combination - sensitive type of skin.

Please Read this discussion also from Cozycot.com (CLICK) If you are not satisfied with all of these articles, I suggest you do your own research and share it to us. I love this product so much that I don't know what to believe now. Its better safe than sorry ladies.

LY-NA MEDICATED PEARL CREAM

Product Description:

Sulfur is legendary for providing relief for various skin ailments, especially acne. Together with pearl's brightening properties, the skin is expected to be clear and luminous. Sulphur, an active mineral ingredient, also helps the skin resist bacteria, while preserving the skin. The pearl powder possesses the requisite factors in keeping the skin healthy, so when the powder is mixed with Nienna cream, the combination is eminently capable of removing blackheads, pimples, ephelis and wrinkles. It will provide for a complexion that is soft and lustrous. Do ensure that the skin is thoroughly clean before applying the cream. When using the cream, you should eat lots of vegetables and fruits and less of oily and fatty foods. When using the cream, it is best to avoid sunburn, ultraviolet rays and chemical actions upon the skin. Apply the cream daily and you will always be beautiful. After successful application, you will be able to walk out in the sun and get a beautiful and even tan.

Many imitations have been made available recently, especially in Malaysia and Dubai. Do note the original packaging and marks when purchasing. It is best to purchase from a reputable source. Note that the plastic jar and outer box is beige in colour and there is no gold coloured ring around the plastic jar.

My Take on this Review:

Remember how I raved about this product and how it made my skin so soft, lightened my scars, and made my blemishes disappear? Well it still does! (Click for pictures) As a matter of fact, I have it on right now. Whenever I have some blemishes on my forehead, this product never fails me and always heals my acne. I love it so much that it hurts me that I will finally stop using it.

Why you might ask?

I did my research and I found out that it has been banned in some Asian countries for more than 10 years now! Why would they ban such a great product? Because it contains mercury!!! (Here's the source: Click)

What can mercury do to us?

Well, it lightens our skin, removing the 1st layer of our skin, and eventually thins it out, making us very sensitive to the sun. Our skin will get tan easily, our skin will be very sensitive thus when you discontinue using it, skin can get damage as it will be very sensitive to a lot of things. Yes, it will help your skin clear blemishes and all that but in the long run, you will see more damage to your skin. Read this article also: Click

Long effects of Mercury

- impairment of peripheral vision

- disturbances in sensations - that 'pins and needles' feeling as well as numbness - usually in the hands feet and sometimes around the mouth

- lack of coordination of movements, such as writing

- impairment of speech, hearing, walking

- muscle weakness

- skin rashes

- mood swing, memory loss, and mental disturbances

Coming into contact with too much mercury this way can damage a growing brain, harming the way unborn and young children will be able to think and learn. It can also harm anyone's heart, kidneys, lungs, and immune system.

I was getting frustrated after reading and researching all of these and getting irritated about all this, and the husband was trying to tickle me and all that while I was typing this. I said, "Stop it with irritating voice", and he's like "That's the side effects of LY-NA! mood swings!" I frowned and remembered, I still have the LYNA on my face. You see, I had the LYNA put on my face after work, then I decided I wanna research more about the LY-NA. Then found out all of these. It made me so sad and so mad.

The Verdict:

As much as this product made my skin so beautiful and removed all of my blemishes, I had to stop it. I knew it was too good to be true. Magical indeed but I can't risk it. I'm just too scared that I might give more damage to my sensitive skin. Lesson learned. Research about a product 1st before using it. Its so hard. :( Good bye LY-NA Pearl Cream. This will be the last day that I will be using you. I know the husband will be very glad. No more old lady smells. :( *tears*

  8. @ RASILLA - I know :( It was a great product though and it did wonders to my skin. But who know what it will do in the long run. I'm scared it will thin out my skin and will be more prone to bacterias out there. Better safe than sorry :(

  9. After your entry, I went around researching to see if it in fact did contain mercury and I came across this blog with an entry talking about LY-NA
    http://pursuitofcute.blogspot.com/2008/11/ly-na-pearl-face-cream-diaries.html
In that entry it also links to another website that shows mercury levels of different pearl creams,

    http://www.hgtech.com/Data/Other/Hg_Cream.html

It shows that LY-NA has 0.00 mercury level.

Some say it does contain while some says it doesn't. I guess we'll never know for sure =[ I really wanted to continue using this product too, but now I don't even know if I should because I'm afraid that it does contain mercury and I bought it in bulk too, everything goes to waste, but better safe than sorry =[

  13. @ MMITSJOJO - I did read that article too. I was kinda happy when I saw the 0.00 percent but came across another article that says it does contain mercury. Yes you're right, we never know for sure and its better safe than sorry. Like I said, its painful for me to stop using it because it has been my HG for a month and helped me so much :( I guess I'm just too scared now and don't wanna risk anymore damage :(

  17. Omgah that really sucks, Iyah! Especially since it worked so well for you & many others. Now I'm glad it didn't work for me, or else I'd be sorely disappointed as well. You're right, it's better to be safe than sorry! I'd hate for my new beauty blogger friends to develop any serious reactions to it. =/

  18. The laundry room is the doggy room. And we have this big sink in there, which is where they have baths and where their feet get washed when it's muddy out. So we always lay out a towel above the dryer (which is right next to the sink) to dry them off at.

Blaah the snow is pretty, but makes everything so inconvenient! I may not make it down to work tomorrow (I live at a higher elevation, and on top of hills), but that doesn't mean we aren't closed..!

  25. SUPER GOOD TO KNOW!!

I dunno, I actually didn't buy into all the Ly-Na hype even though I got the green one (I barely used it and even then just in spots). That is definitely one of the scary things about using a foreign product (that it might have harmful ingredients). Well I definitely won't be using this anymore! Thanks so much!
