IQQU ACNE SERUM
Website: http://iqqubeauty.comReviews from IQQU site: http://iqqubeauty.com/int/index.php/review/product/list/id/13/category/3/
According to iqqubeauty.com, this acne serum is a concentrated treatment that is designed to treat acne and redness. Non comedogenic. No fragrance. Paraben Free.
MY TAKE:
I don't even know how to begin with this review. I don't like to take my time reviewing a product I don't really like but some people emailed me telling me what I think about IQQU and I tell them I didn't like it and people asked me "but why?? its such a good product.. blah blah blah..." Ok so here goes...
I take pride in having a good skin [note: not great but good]. I might have break outs during my period but usually goes away and acne scars goes by after a week or two with the help of any whitening soap or cream.
Then why did I buy Acne serum...?
Of course I want to minimize the redness, hyrdates my skin (I have dry skin) and in their website it claims that acne serum hydrates the skin and also brightens up the skin and also has antioxidants. I thought it would also be good to minimize the acne I get during the time of the month. Boy, I was so wrong..
What IQQU Acne Serum claims:
☛ This product is for you if you want to hydrate your skin - ✘ It dried my face so bad even if I put my moisturizer, it is still dry!
☛ This product is for you if you want effective action to reduce acne - ✘ It made my acne worse! Some people in the review claimed that it also made their acne worse but after that, it got better. I used Acne serum on and off because its making my acne worse like after I apply it at night, one pimple with puss will come out the next day so I still apply it at night thinking it will cure that acne but the next day two acne came out so I decided to stop using it and the acne went away but after a couple of days I decided to try it again, and yes I was right, it happened again.
☛ This product is for you if you want a skin detoxifying treatment - ✘
☛ This product is for you if you want to brighten your skin while treating your acne - ✘ I didn't see any brightness on my face at all. I think its the same.
☛ This product is for you if you want to sooth and renew your skin - ✘
☛ This product is for you if you want to provide your skin with antioxidants without irritation - ✘
☛ This product is for you if you want enzymatic complex to control oily skin - ✘ Maybe that's why it didn't work for me because I have dry skin?
The packaging is also not good because it took me several pumps for the product to come out. And this is what IQQU stated, "Turn the bottle upside down and pump. The product will come out. Pressure changed during air shipping, so you have to give it good pumps, once you create the vacuum, it will dispense normally. Thats why we are having this sale to improve by creating new packaging that everyone will find effective"
And a person who reviewed IQQU also stated that the Acne serum broke her out and this is what the IQQU stated, "You probably broke out first because of the retinol, it usually happens for 1 week. After the first week, the skin should get use to the retinol and clear up. Also, remember to wear sunscreen over the acne serum to product your skin from further irritation. "
IQQU should state this on their label that you are PROBABLY GOING TO BREAK OUT BECAUSE OF THE RETINOL! and should warn people that has sensitive skina about this.
I have tweeted before, "My acne scars is slowly fading, thanks to IQQU." Do you guys remember that Tweet? I think I spoke too soon because the next day, I broke out like no other.. *sigh*
Also note that I was using same old products that I was using before I broke out. The only addition to my skin care routine are the IQQU products.
I TOLD YOU GUYS MY SKIN IS SO UGLY RIGHT NOW. THIS IS ONLY HALF OF MY FACE. IMAGINE WHAT MY OTHER CHEEK and FOREHEAD LOOKS LIKE? *Sigh*
I FEEL SO EMBARRASSED POSTING THESE PICTURES. :(
I FEEL SO EMBARRASSED POSTING THESE PICTURES. :(
Here are some reviews which shares what I feel about IQQU Acne Serum: http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=320168
I didn't bother to email them about this. Maybe I should have before I even reviewed this product but what for? It doesn't change anything - it still didn't work out for me. Also they don't have a good return policy. They only accept those unusued or unopened product. For an expensive product like this, at least have a good return policy.
JASMIN RICE SCRUB
According to iqqubeauty.com,
This luxurious rice scrub is a delight for the skin using the finest organic jasmine rice grown in Asia. The rice is hand milled to perfection to smooth away any dullness to the skin. The delicious scent is reminisce of a bowl of fresh rice, making this scrub a treat for the skin. This scrub is paraben free and should be used at night once every 2 days.
The young rice scrub and rice
bran oil is enriched with vitamin
E, a natural powerful anti-oxidant.
This creamy scrub firms the skin
and reduces wrinkles while
balancing the skin's complexion.
There is a natural exfoliation effect from
the young rice scrub. Furthermore, it
helps whiten the skin. This creamy
scrub gives a natural moisturizing
effect that keeps the skin looking
healthy and young.
This scrub actually smells delicious. Smells like a cake batter, but when I 1st got it, I couldn't stop smelling it. I almost wanted to eat it. The grains of this scrub is very fine.
✔ After using this, it did make my face softer.
✔ I love the smell, it really smells delicious and the smell stays on my face even after I washed it.
✘ My skin gets a little red whenever I use it. I think its because my skin is so sensitive, its just reacting to the grains of this product. No big deal because the redness goes away.
✘ It contains MINERAL OIL - I also read about some articles about mineral oil that is bad for acne prone skin: http://www.acnetalks.com/pimple/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=574&Itemid=9&mosmsg=Thanks+for+your+vote!
In that article, it stated there that, "But, certainly mineral oil is not an appropriate choice for using on a very oily or acne prone skin that does not need any more emollient as excess of mineral oil can be harmful. The good thing about mineral oil is that it does not clog pores, in fact, it decreases inflammation in acne patients but the products containing this ingredient are actually too oily for clients. According to some people, mineral oil found in Vaseline and or any other kind of petroleum jelly worsen the acne leading of severe pimples on the face. The truth according to few people are that mineral oil can have adverse effect on acne skin care. It would not help in treating acne instead, would definitely worsen it by making your skin more oily. So, use only mineral oil free cosmetic and beauty products to have an acne free skin."
So what is the truth about MINERAL OIL?! I Direct Messaged Michelle Phan about my concern regarding the Mineral oil in the Jasmin Rice Scrub but I never got an answer. I understand that she gets lots of emails and probably don't have time to answer all of them. This is the time that she needs to get associates in order to help her answer her costumer's questions. Good costumer service is a plus in a company.
Now this review doesn't have anything to do with Michelle Phan - me liking her or not because honestly, I watch her videos and truly think she's an awesome make up artist, so please don't ask me if I still LIKE HER OR NOT just because her products did not work for me. I don't want to judge a person that I don't know personally.
OVERALL: I won't repurchase.

Wow... I knew you somewhat love the Jasmin Rice Scrub but I guess it's bad for you =T Good review though! I can see why her products are expensive, she just started and I don't think she's making much profits. She does need to get an associate to help her answer customer questions. You know, if I was you... I would just start popping those >.< I cannot help but pop them out if it's on my skin! It's bad, I know but I'm too used to it. Your skin will get better soon! Maybe you want to use like acne-free(is this even a word) mask or something, along with daily cleansers.
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of what I feel about the Mary Kay Timewise cleanser set now =T
Thank you for doing these honest reviews. Girl you should see MY skin =[ I have so much on my forehead *cries*
ReplyDeleteI also will not be purchasing anymore... more than anything now I feel like iQQU products could have used a lot more testing before offering it to the public... it's like we were the GUINEA PIGS for these products! >:( She also did not answer my emails too! I mean I know she must get alot but if she's not prepared to deal with customers, why open a business?! I agree I still enjoy her as a guru but I'm really disappointed with her and iQQU.
I am so sorry this happened to you! To try a product and break out is bad, but to try something which is supposed to treat acne and breaks you out is horrible!!! Thank you SO MUCH for having the courage to share this horrible experience with us!!!!
ReplyDelete*big hugs and sends good skin vibes your way*
I'm so sorry this happened to you Iyah...you have good skin it's just irritated by the product. I know you have sensitive skin and trust me so do I...just a brush of my hubby's facial hair on my cheek can trigger a pimple like a chia pet. I don't want to seem like I'm high on Proactiv but looking at your posted pictures reminds me of my skin before I started proactiv, actually mine was worse. I really think you should at least try the Proactiv Refining Mask. It will dry up those pimples the next day, so you won't have to pop them. I don't condone popping the pimples with your fingers because you are risking scars to develop after. Also, drink lots and lots of water if you don't already do so. *huggaluvin*
ReplyDeleteIyah dear! I am so sorry you have to go through this, just today, i read about rants on IQQU! I feel so bad for you and the others, but you're right, your skin could react differently to this product and I think if I use it, we'll be the same, I have very dry skin and sensitive skin too! Hope your skin gets better!
ReplyDeleteONE WORD BABE....WOWWWWWWWWW!!!
ReplyDeleteim sorry that your skin is going through this...dont be embarrassed everyone has acne...i have acne and yes mine gets pretty bad even till now...your just that real to show it...your still fucking beautiful...now even more so...im sorry this line didn't work out for you i hope your skin heals...you need ditch that and go back to your other regimen STAT!!!
rubbish!
Thank you for such an honest review on these products. I've been hesitant about purchasing it and after reading this, I don't even want to dry. I have really dry skin around my cheek and smewhat oily in my T-zones and I think I'll just stick to my old skincare regiment.
ReplyDeleteI rememeber about 3yrs ago, my face was so dry...it'll start to flake. I saw a Derm. and he explained how I've stripped all my natural oils on my face from facials and trying different skincare products. He told me to wash my face w/ Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser For All Skin Types and it actually restored back some mositure in my face, after a month. I hope your breakouts doesn't get as bad. You are very brave to post pic. for us, I really commend you on that. I'm new to your blog, but so far... I love it!
Take cares!
sorry to hear that those products didn't work for you =T is there any way you could see a dermatologist to help treat your breakout? My skin has become more sensitive over the years, and I can't really use strong products anymore...I've actually limited my use of exfoliating scrubs (my derm told me a breakout on my jaw was probably due to harsh exfoliants/scrubbing too hard and too often) to control breakouts that keep showing up in the same spot. Try going back to a gentler skin routine.
ReplyDeleteMy derm prescribed a retinol cream for me as well, and it totally made my skin freak out, so I use it sparingly...even after a month and only using it every few days, my skin reacts.
If you like the jasmine rice scrub but want to avoid the mineral oil, you can totally make a scrub of your own at home! Just grind up some jasmine rice (or if you can find rice powder at the grocery store, even better - it should be with other baking-type flours) and mix it with your cleanser :) when I do my weekly exfoliation, that's what I use with my cleanser.
Thanks for this honest review. I am very skeptical to try products from a new company that is still fairly new. It's my skin that takes he heat and I'd rather buy products from companies that have done years of thorough research and have advanced skincare technology. Michelle Phan is NOT an expert in skincare and I think people forget this. She studied for art, have learned great makeup application skills, and have learned tips and tricks for skincare by research.
ReplyDeleteI don't think people realize that Michelle Phan had great skin before she had her line. Using her products won't necessarily make your skin look like hers. I think people get caught up in thinking great things about the product before they even try it. It's good to keep a blank slate so you have a truer better indication on the product's performance.
Anyway, I'm not hating on Michelle, I do watch her videos and have watched her videos from before she became so 'famous.' She has her hits and misses with her makeup tutorials and the same goes with skincare.
oh nooooo!! sorry for the breakout. new skin care products terrify me. I give you props for trying and doing the review!
ReplyDeleteHey babe! I adore your courage!! Thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteAww I'm sorry you had a break out from these products. Don't be embrassed about your photos we all have gone thru bad break outs before. You are still beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI also bought the Jasmin Rice Scrub, you're right it smells great I also couldn't stop smelling it, my husband loved the way my face smelled after I'd use it. I didn't break out or turn red because I don't have sensitive skin, but I still dont think this product is great I wouldn't repurchase it either. Yeah I saw that Mineral Oil was the 2nd thing on the list of Ingredients! I was like WTF!
hey girl, i know how you feel about that awful breakout. check out my photoready pictures lol. what kind of whitening cream do you use? i need help with me scars :(
ReplyDeleteanyways, i understand you when you say that not all products work and i'm glad you gave an HONEST review. nowadays it's hard to tell if someone is getting paid to say good things about a product or not, but thankfully there are still some people around that will give honest reviews.
i'm facing serious acne problem now. I stop all the skincare product, is not the fault of the skincare, is that I'm dealing with bacteria and get infected by it.
ReplyDeletebut IQQU is freak me out because it makes your skin turn so bad!
have u try to consult your dermatologist!
I really hate some acne products! I can understand the getting worse before it gets better part with dryness, because acne products dry you out..but why should they cause more break outs? Doesn't make any sense! Do you have an updated skin care routine? I'd love to know it!
ReplyDeletethe same thing happened to my hubby with proactive....so I agree with u it depends on the skin...but I just don't get it...why a new unknown product would be too expensive...& wow...a product that claims to heal acne would give you acne instead...I'm sorry about what your skin are going through iyah....do go to a dermatologist....
ReplyDeleteGood review! Awe!! That sucks you broke out.. I'm so scared to try new things because I tend to break out.. My skin is so sensitive.. Hope it clears soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us all know about the products! I was curious about IQQU the first time you posted about the delicious smelling scrub. Now I know to be careful & read labels before trying something new.
ReplyDeleteI love you Iyah! <3
Steph
You are so awesome to post this! I'm so glad someone gave a honest review. I hope things get better for you! You still look great!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the review, and for being so brave posting the pictures and the honest opinions. I am sorry that these products did not work out for you! It just sucks that a product that claims to be treating acne was doing the exact opposite, how devastating! and hope your skin will recover soon <3
ReplyDeleteOMG WOW! Thanks for the super honest review.
ReplyDeleteCan;t believe it makes you break out more, hopefully it will get better for you.
great review. I appericiate the honesty in it no matter if she is popular or not. I like her videos too but I feel she or someone from the company should have emailed you about the mineral oil. I'm glad I found out it has that because I wanted to purchase it to try it but I NEVER use any products with mineral oil. So bad for the skin..well my skin at least. Thanks for the review! =]
ReplyDeleteOh Iyah your face! :( And you really do have nice skin. Darn this IQQU. Honestly I've heard nothing but less then par things about it. I guess having Michelle Phan be the "creator" is driving it's sales, but most of the reviews have been the same... SHITTY! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI do hope your skin clears up soon. You should ask for a refund. Seriously.
thank you soo much for the review! I wanted to try the product but I dont want to spend some money on something that would cause my skin to go crazy! And don't feel bad about your skin, you're a beautiful young lady and everyone had those days. I have really sensitive skin and I break out easily, but I'm more on the oily side. I think I will take your advice of trying a product that is milder. I think I've been using a really harsh anti acne skincare for awhile now and its not doin anything good to me! Btw, what kind of whitening product are you using for your scars? D
ReplyDeletethis too, shall pass -- jst think about that. you're naturally beautiful. you're skin will always go back to being it =)
ReplyDeletethanks for the review! I'm sorry to hear that they didn't work :/ I know how you feel, my skin is pretty bad atm due to stress - its similar to yours just that the redness is from rosacea flare up than acne. So you're not alone. *Hugs* Hope everything gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your honest reviews! Drink plenty of h2o and sunscreen to the 100th power! You have good skin, this is just temp.
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I was itching to get a few of the iqqu products [sunscreen and the jasmine rice scrub], but not so much anymore after reading all these horrible reviews. People go to school for this kind of stuff. Rembrandt was known for his paintings, not for his canvas making skills.
Take care girlie<3
I've always wanted to try IQQU out!
ReplyDeleteI left you an award on my blog!
Oh no :( I hope your skin gets better <3
ReplyDeletethanks for the honest review.
ReplyDeleteI recommend you go for a facial cleaning and stop using those products.
My skin has also reacted horribly to some acne prone skin products.
Go for a facial cleaning by a dermatologist continue going until your skin is clean.
Once a month of course.
My personal experience with acne is that I go for a facial cleaning every 4 weeks and at home I have a normal clay mud mask and a facial scrub, which I use once - twice a week.
I also finally found a acne cream which doesn't irritate my skin.
:)
I am so sorry to hear this. I think I will refrain from buying this line b/c I have crazy sensitive skin. I hope your skin clears up quickly, sweetie. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, that's sucks that IQQU did not work for you! I hate when that happens when your face is fine and only break out on your period..then suddenly you break out ..not evenn on your period but because of a product. My friend ordered her products.. I also did wanted to purchase them myself.because her face is soooo nice and clear.. Again maybe its the skintype? I'm not sure. I hope your skin heels sooon :( I hate having pimples!!! It's so gross and nasty lol.. Take care babe!<3

Awww thats totally not right & sad for using this very expensive product and the promise didnt even happen... I, myself got went in the same situation. bought this freakin expensive product and it ruin my face... i was so frustrated, i cried & cruse the one who advertise me, my husband hahaha... i almost spend another $500.00 to fix all the scar and gross acne... but my sister help me... she told me to use Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser, and Toner... I put 4 aspirin on the toner and desolve it there. i use it daily... save me a lot of money and time... after 3 to 5 days i notice its starting to minimize my pores and the redness is gone... the scar, took almost 1 month to unnotice on my face... the acne got clear up and never ever came back... this help my sensitive skin like yours... thanks god... i will never ever buy expensive product again... but hey thanks for sharing. ill tell my friend to think about it first before she buy & ruin her face with this IQQU.
ReplyDeleteAn oily face is an acne prone face. Clogged pores is one of the causes of acne. So have a smart choice on choosing products to treat your acne. I can recommend products which has non-comedogenic (won't clogged pores) substance.depression medication
ReplyDeleteThank you for your review! I have also tried the acne serum. At first I thought it was OK, but then I notice that A LOT OF REDNESS starts to develop around my face.AND IT DOESNN'T GET RID OF ACNES.
ReplyDeleteI will not purchase IQQU products anymore. I think Michelle Phan should stop selling them altogether since it's so damaging!
Clearly the acne serum was awful for your skin. so why did you give it a 3/5 stars? if anything, it should have been 1 (the lowest), right?
ReplyDeleteand i actually thought your skin was amazing before the skin serum. =(
@ GRACE - I didn't give it 3 stars. Where does it say 3 stars? I will give it 0 stars! LOL
ReplyDelete@ Iyah
ReplyDeletelol did you not post this link on Makeupalley????? Someone posted your link under the name "XMate" on that site and gave it 3/5 lipsticks!! i was like, WAIT, WHY WOULD SHE DO THAT!??!?!?!?!?
lol anyways, thanks for this honest review. your review meant a lot more than other people's because you were an established blogger long before trying Iqqu so Michelle fans won't just automatically think you're just some hater.
so seriously, thank you! my friend's skin got ruined beyond belief as well =\
from what i've heard/learned, mineral oil IS bad for your skin. It can clog pores and other things. Well, i forget what else. But one thing for sure, this lady told me not to use baby oil.
ReplyDelete@ GRACE - oh no, I didn't rate it as 3 stars and my user name is not XMATE :| hmmmm.. wonder who that is, but yes 0 stars definitely! lol!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading a lot of your reviews and other blogs, I find it amazing. Good for you, it worked on you. It really had a great effect on your acne. I'm using a different acne treatment for my acne and I've also have the best results.
ReplyDelete@Jamie -- you meant IQQU? IQQU never worked for me. :( it actually cause the acne you see above.
ReplyDeleteI've been searching about curing acne, suddenly I arrived to this post. Very true. Thanks to this post I now have an idea on how to deal with it. I enjoyed reading, though I have nothing to deal with this.

I really hate pimples growing in my face aside from its annoying and painful. I really hate the reaction of people who will stare at you and some that will gross at you.
